Evans Elementary Home-School Compact

2025-2026

 

The compact has been jointly developed and agreed upon by the staff, parents, and students of Evans Elementary School in order to develop a partnership to help our children achieve the State’s high standards. We, the parents, school, teachers, and students will share the responsibility for improving student academic achievement.

Parent/Guardian Agreement

As an Evans parent, I will be responsible for supporting my child’s learning in the following ways:

¨      Ensure that my child attend school daily and on time dressing in the appropriate school uniform

¨      Review my child’s homework and other papers on a regular basis

¨      Provide a place to study in a safe and loving environment and encouraging my child’s efforts

¨      Working with the teacher and school in its effort to implement and maintain proper discipline

¨      Communicate regularly with teachers to stay informed on what my child is learning

¨      Volunteer, participate, and observe in my child’s classroom or where I am needed in the school

¨      Participate in making decisions that relate to my child’s academic and behavioral progress

¨      Provide necessary supplies and materials for my child to complete classroom and homework assignments

¨      Returning report cards and attending parent-teacher conferences

¨      Monitor television watching and positive use of extra-curricular time

Student Agreement

As an Evans student, I will commit to doing the following:

¨      Come to school every day,  on time, and ready to learn with the supplies needed for class work

¨      Wear school uniforms every day

¨      Follow the Student Code of Conduct, Evans school rules, and my classroom rules

¨      Complete and return all class/homework assignments

¨      Respect all adults and my peers

¨      Not use profanity or discouraging words

Teacher Agreement

I, the undersigned, a partner in the education of children at Evans commit to the following:

¨      Provide  a welcoming, developmentally appropriate environment that is conducive to learning

¨      Modify instruction to accommodate the educational needs of students

¨      Provide enriched skills to promote academic success

¨      Provide frequent progress reports and communication to parents regarding student’s progress

¨      Provide homework that reinforces skills taught in the classroom

¨      Provide opportunities for parents to volunteer, participate and observe in their child’s class

¨      Participate in high quality professional development to gain knowledge which will ensure student’s achievement

¨      Discuss School Compact with parents as it relates to the individual child’s achievement

School Agreement

As the administrator of Evans Elementary I will commit to doing the following:

¨ Provide a safe environment at Evans that promotes open communication between faculty, staff, students, parents, and the Evans community

¨Provide a high-quality curriculum and instruction to all students in a supportive and effective learning environment that will enable students to achieve state academic standards

¨Emphasize the importance of ongoing communication between teachers, parents, students, and community stakeholders

¨Allow parents reasonable access to staff; to volunteer, participate, and observe in their child’s classroom

¨Provide parents, students, and community stakeholders with timely information about programs, parent trainings, district updates, etc. through monthly calendars, flyers, Parent Link, and Evans Homepage in a format and a language the parent understands

¨Hold semi-annual parent-teacher conferences to discuss this compact and student progress

¨Monitor attendance of students and recognize classes meeting state and district goal for attendance.

¨Provide parents with information about the SCS curriculum, district/state assessment measures and state proficiency expectations for students.

¨Provide timely feedback to parent suggestions and concerns

¨Plan and implement research-based professional development trainings that meet the needs and strengthen the skills of parents and staff
